Muse: The Brain-Sensing Headband featured on Inidegogo.com

Muse: The Brain-Sensing Headband featured on Inidegogo.com is looking to change the way we interact with technology. Here’s what they have to say:

Everyone deserves a Muse.

Introducing Muse, our brainwave-sensing headband.

It’s a comfortable, sleek, four-sensor headband that allows you to control applications, games, reduce stress, improve memory and concentration, and eventually control devices directly with your mind.

Muse measures your brainwaves in real-time. It sends those brainwaves to your smart phone or tablet showing you how well your brain is performing and also translates your brainwaves into instructions to interact with content on your iOS or Android device.

The neat thing is every time you use your brain with Muse and one of our applications, you’re strengthening it. And that will let you do more with your mind than you ever thought possible.

How does it work?

Your brain creates brainwave activity every moment of your life, day and night, awake or asleep. Each state is accompanied by specific brain wave patterns. For example, brains of people in relaxed states create gentle, slow-moving alpha waves, while those engaged in intense concentration generate quick, jagged beta waves.

Muse uses sensors to pick up the tiny electrical outputs generated by your brain’s activity. As you shift between states like concentration and relaxation, Muse’s algorithms detect the subtle changes in your brain and show you those changes in real time, just like a heart rate monitor can provide information about your physical activity.

These signals can be used in a number of ways. InteraXon is looking to use these brainwaves to interact with devices in the real world–devices that respond to your thoughts like turning off your smart phone when you are asleep or turning off the TV. But just as important is how seeing your brainwaves can help you learn more about yourself and improve yourself while strengthening your brain.

Muse sits across your forehead like a headband, and rests behind your ears like a pair of glasses. When properly worn, the EEG (electroencephalography) sensors on the front of the band make contact on your forehead, and the reference sensors on the arms rest on the backs of your ears. Muse connects wirelessly to your devices via Bluetooth. Once Muse is on, you’ll hardly notice it at all.

What else comes with Muse?

We’re including our first in-house application with Muse: our Integrated Brain Health system. It will guide you through a series of lessons delivered in beautiful virtual environments on your phone or tablet. Run through some exercises to sharpen your mind before delivering a speech. De-stress and detox your mind on the train ride home. Flood your brain with alpha waves and embark on a five-minute mental vacation.

It’s filled with fun, interesting and challenging exercises to help you build health brain habits such as: better attention skills, improving your memory, reducing anxiety, building a more positive attitude and staying motivated. Our brain training integrates cognitive and emotional exercises because we believe a healthy brain needs both to perform at its best.

This illustration of a focus training app shows how brainwave
data can help you track your progress over time

We decided to introduce this application with Muse because of discussions we had with people about their attempts to improve their mood and build a more positive outlook and the growing number of stress-related illnesses.

Despite best efforts, most people run into numerous stumbling blocks and eventually give up on trying to change the negative ways they think. The problem most had – developing practices to sustain concentration, relaxation, increase motivation, and maintain composure in stressful situations, among other things – was a lack of helpful, real-time feedback to know whether what they were doing was working. People simply didn’t know, whether they were getting closer to their goals or if they were performing the techniques right at all! Lacking direction and guidance, it’s no wonder most gave up.

This was the “A-ha!” moment for our first application.

With our background in brain-computer interfaces, we saw how EEG could provide meaningful and timely feedback to help people get past the usual stumbling blocks. So we’ve been working with experts who teach mental practices fusing their methods and our technology into gorgeous, compelling digital experiences for your iPad, iPhone, or Android device.

Who’s behind it?

InteraXon is an interdisciplinary team of artists & engineers, neuroscientists & designers. Our founders have been working with this technology for almost a decade. The team started to come together in 2007, and since then we’ve been working to make brain-computer interfaces an accessible, affordable reality.

One of our first projects was a recreation of a game
from Star Trek: The Next Generation

We’re best known for the installation we created for Ontario at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. It allowed people in Vancouver to control the lights on Niagara Falls, the CN Tower, and the Canadian Parliament buildings from more than 3000k (over 2000 miles!) away, using only their brainwaves!

At the Vancouver Olympics, InteraXon let visitors use their brainwaves to control the lights on Niagara Falls, the CN Tower and the Canadian Parliament Buildings

Since then we’ve been building the coolest things we can think of. For Wrigley’s we created a system that turned users’ chews into jolts of electricity and floods of juice in a race to explode virtual fruits on screen. For the 2011 TEDxToronto afterparty we built a game where users raced to fill virtual martini glasses by concentrating — and rewarded the winner with real drink tickets!

From thought-controlled slot cars to brainwave-powered toasters. From levitating chairs to remote-controlled blimps. We’ve been playing and experimenting, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with this technology. It’s given us a profound understanding of what makes this technology work, what makes it fun, and what makes it meaningful. And all of that knowledge is built into Muse.

Our first ever tin-foil hat day was a big success.

Other people working on EEG spend most of their time thinking about the technology. At InteraXon, we’re thinking about solutions that make sense in everyday life for people just like you. It’s this focus that we think is going to make all the difference to you.

In 2010, we partnered with Secret Exit to make a brainwave-
powered version of the award-winning ZenBound 2

This is just the beginning.

We want Muse to be an everyday part of your life so we crafted it to be as attractive, comfortable, light and intuitive as possible. We develop applications that address real life scenarios providing real life benefits, while also developing applications that inspire, educate and entertain.

Muse is here to be the guide to the wonders of brainwave-enabled technology for people all over the world. Beyond the initial app included with Muse will be apps created by ourselves and others – maybe including you! We’re releasing an SDK (Software Development Kit) for Muse, and with the developers & developers deluxe pledges you’ll get a set of tools for analyzing and visualizing brain waves that we use in our lab.

And please, please, keep us in the loop about what you’re up to with your Muse on Facebook and Twitter. We can’t wait to see the sort of things people do with Muse, and, of course, we’ll eagerly pump up your projects to all of our friends and followers.

We need your help.

We’ve spent the last four years designing Muse and developing the algorithms that make brainwaves meaningful, and we’re ready to take the next step. But taking Muse from a prototype to a finished product means we need to purchase tooling (the parts that make the parts), order components, and build test equipment to make sure everything runs smoothly. And that stuff ain’t cheap.

Get a sweet InteraXon T-Shirt with a contribution of $45!

That’s why we’re asking you to help us fund our first production run. Muse can’t start changing the world until it’s in your hands, and that’s what this project is about. We’ve been playing, experimenting and building with this technology for years now, and we want to give the rest of the world access to amazing experiences and interactions as soon as we can. Your contributions will make that possible.

CoreChair – as featured on indiegogo – did they reach their goal?

CoreChair is another exciting product that was featured on indiegogo. In the long run, we see them doing well but their campaign just didn’t get them where they wanted. Does that mean that the product wasn’t any good? Not at all. We were a little confused by the what the funds were going to be used for, so we’re contacting the owners to ask for some clarification and ask them if they’re thinking of running another campaign?

We’ll let you know what they had to say.

For now this is what they said while they were on www.indiegogo.com:

Our passionate and dedicated team is excited to bring this project – four years in the making – to Indiegogo. As the cofounder (and designer) of Core Chair, I am lucky to be working with individuals who are also passionate about developing the next generation of specialty seating. Our team has a keen interest in health, fitness and ergonomics and the need for accessible alternatives to a sedentary lifestyle. In addition we bring almost 30 years of seating design experience, initially for persons dependent on wheelchairs for mobility and prone to pressure sores and compromised postural integrity, now focusing on the needs of everyone who finds themselves sitting for prolonged periods of time and experiencing the discomfort of poor posture and static sitting experiences.
It’s called the Core Chair. Let me tell you about it…

In Search of a New Position

The Core Chair design is inspired by the growing frequency of people intuitively taking an exercise ball to their office to create an active sitting opportunity. We set out to make this dynamic approach to sitting more effective as an office chair and more functionally reliable and safe. For the past four years we have been developing an active seating system where the actual seat articulates about an axis immediately beneath the users centre of mass. This allows a user to move their seat with them in any infinite direction, mimicking the action of the exercise ball. This movement can be adjusted to suit your needs from very unstable, similar to the ball, to very firm, similar to a standard ergonomic chair.

How Your Contribution Will Help

(and what we’ll give you for it!)

The Core Chair has evolved over the past 4 years and has undergone several studies at the University of Waterloo. We have engaged the input of a diverse scope of allied health professionals including physical therapists, chiropractors, personal trainers, pilates instructors, massage therapists, ergonomists and people who typically sit for long periods of time.

The Core Chair design is patent pending and we have invested in excess of $250,000 to date. Production engineering is well underway with new rapid prototype models, finite element analysis and tooling and manufacturing costs in hand.

We are seeking funding of $200,000 to complete the next steps in order to deliver this next generation of specialty seating to the world!

Your support will help to:

complete the production engineering to ensure a functional, durable and cost effective product.
machine a production prototype in real life materials and begin accelerated life cycle testing as we create soft tools to further engage in production testing to meet and exceed industry standards and user safety and reliability.
BIFMA testing and tooling.
Initial production run and speedy delivery to you for your enjoyment.
In return for your support we look forward to delivering you a product that will allow you to enjoy your sitting experience. Check out some of the perks we’re offering:

Bright Solar Lamp & Phone charger featured on indiegogo

BRIGHT Products – BELL solar lamp – Crowdfunding from BRIGHT Products on Vimeo.

Bright Solar Lamp & Phone charger featured on Indiegogo is an absolutely incredible product that is truly needed in the world. Here’s what they have to say and why it’s fundamental that we support this project!

The ultimate solar lamp and phone charger – for the world

BRIGHT Products is a start-up company on a mission to turn the world on to smart, simple and sustainable power solutions. Our first product – The BELL solar lamp and mobile phone charger can replace weak and polluting kerosene lamps in developing countries – but also serve the needs of campers and hikers across the world.

It has been developed over 3 years by K8 Industrial Design in Norway, and is already awarded with the International Design Award and as winner of the Common Pitch in Colorado US 2011.

The unique design lets you turn the product into a reading light, a ceiling light or a portable light – depending on what you need. It takes 8-10 hours of good sunlight to charge the batteries full. It can also be charged with a wall adaptor or 12V car adaptor. The light can be regulated from low (50 hours) to medium (8 hours) to high (4 hours). You can also use it to charge mobile phones, and on top of that the bell lampshade works as a great sound amplifier when you insert your mobile phone into it for music or radio. It´s like the Swiss Army Knife of solar lamps!

Over the last 4 months we have travelled the world to test 10 prototypes. In the deep Norwegian woods and rural villages in Kenya, Tanzania and Bangladesh. And people really love it! CARE Norway and CARE local field workers in Tanzania and Bangladesh has helped us out with the prototype testing. THANKS!

NOW we need your help to fund the production tools needed for mass production. The cost for this is $50.000.

By supporting our project you can contribute to improved education, health, income and prosperity of millions of people. Through our close collaboration with CARE Norway, we will reach out through women groups and local entrepreneurs for long term, sustainable distribution models in East Africa and Asia. Even if you just want one of the very first models for yourself, you will contribute to this goal.

«The lamps from Bright Products give poor women, who do not have access to ordinary electricity, the opportunity to study or work well after the sun has gone down. The fact that it can also be used as a flash light allows women to move more freely around after dark, without compromising their safety. We are excited about our partnership with Bright and the opportunities and improved quality of life these lamps bring to poor women and girls.» Torild Skogsholm – Country Director, CARE Norway

What We Need & What You Get

Up to this stage, we have funded the development, prototyping and travels with the help of families and friends. The next big investment is production tools for injection molding of all the plastic parts of the product. We have quoted this in both Europe and China, and our best bid at this stage is $50.000 for single cavity tools that will last for up to 1 million units produced. Tooling will start as soon as the funding is in place.

If you help us out – you can become one of the first in the world to get this amazing product. And if you wish to support our efforts to reach the people who need it the most – you can order products that will be distributed through our partnership with CARE. A global Non Governmental Organization, specializing in helping and empowering women.

IF YOU FIND THE PRICE A LITTLE HIGH considering the income level in parts of Africa and Asia, remember that this is a fundraising campaign for production tools and that future price in developing countries will be lower.

Proven impact for every Kerosene lamp replaced

ONE kerosene lamp replaced with a BELL will have these positive effects:
BIG improvements in light quality for studies and work after 6 PM.
Increased time for studies and home businesses by 4-6 hours every day!
Reduction in toxic fumes from the kerosene lamp, equal to two packs of cigarettes a day for woman and children in a small hut.
Reduction in CO2 emissions of about 200-250 kg per year
Increased safety for the owner. Reduced fire hazard indoors. A portable light to be safe in traffic, against assaults/rape and from poison snakes.
Reduction in money spent on charging phones. To fully charge a phone in Africa will often cost USD 0,2 – 0,3. And charged phones really drive local economy!
Through our partnership with CARE Norway, we aim to support hundreds of local woman entrepreneurs with a “Solar Shop Start-up kit”, making every donation support a sustainable, local way of building competence and distribution for solar energy.
If you just wish to buy one for yourself, it´s good to know that this will also help us in our ambitions to reach the whole world!

Save Aquarius Reef Base – featured on Indiegogo

Save Aquarius Reef Base – featured on Indiegogo needs your help!

We love science and we love the Florida Keys, so we couldn’t resist featuring this great campaign on our site. They’ve got 73 days left and they definitely need help. We’ll be getting in touch with them to get “the inside scoop”. Here’s how they describe their campaign:

Short Summary

People once dreamed of living under the sea. Today, we are not only doing it,
but also using undersea living as an extraordinary tool to conduct cutting-edge
coral reef research, test innovative undersea equipment and tele-robotic surgical
instruments, train the next generation of astronauts and sailors, and to inspire
future generations of scientists, educators and leaders.

Through the extended bottom time provided by Aquarius, the precious gift
of time, marine scientists have begun to find the answers to many questions
facing policy makers and managers responsible for the wise use of our national
resources. Results address the use of marine reserves as a management tool to
conserve coral reef fisheries, understanding coral feeding biology and
reproduction, figuring out the impacts of elevated seawater temperature on coral biology and so much more.

Unfortunately the President’s 2013 budget proposal includes the termination of the National Undersea Research Program (NURP), which includes Aquarius.

Aquarius’ Annual Operating Budget is $3M.

What We Need & What You Get

With government funding for Aquarius set to end in December, the Aquarius Foundation has set a goal of raising $750,000 by December 31, 2012. Achieving this fundraising goal will allow Aquarius to maintain core staff and undertake critical maintenance in 2013 in preparation for a full mission season in 2014. Through this campaign we are hoping to raise $100,000 which will be put towards the much larger goal set by the Aquarius Foundation.

You will recieve limited edition, autographed or one-of-a-kind merchandise for your contribution. You will also receive the satisfaction of knowing you’re part of the solution to the crisis affecting our oceans and reefs.

The Aquarius Foundation has been established to build upon the rich history of man’s quest to live beneath the sea and serve as a catalyst for learning, discovery, and creativity through education and outreach. If the goal to maintain operations at Aquarius Reef Base is not realised the foundation will continue their efforts to spawn the next generation of solvers and seekers through education, outreach and scholarships.

Why Aquarius is Important

Examples of recent scientific studies conducted using Aquarius:

• A team of scientists discovered that internal waves bring as much as 20-40 times more nitrogen and phosphorus to the upper Florida Keys outer reef tract than estimates of nutrient pollution from sewage and storm water runoff.
• Collaborative research on coral reefs revealed surprisingly high pumping
rates and rates of nitrogen exchange in reef sponges. A ‘denitrifying effect’ of some sponges, which may counteract other sponge nitrification to help maintain the health of a reef system, has also been identified.
• Coral restoration and resilience experiments have been conducted since 2007 to increase understanding of the factors that affect the survival of coral transplants as a way to begin restore damaged reefs.
• Experiments to determine how herbivore diversity may be most productively managed to restore damaged reefs to desired states of health and ecosystem function.
• Scientsits have begun to zero in on the causes of ocean acidification, which is contributing to the degradation of coral reefs. Of particular interest: whether some acidification might be caused by respiration of bottom-dwelling creatures like sponges, or whether most can be attributed to carbon emissions from an industrialized world.

Besides accomplishing their intended goals, scientists are able to see and
experience the unexpected, at any time of day or night, and new revelations
await — like the discovery of a marine plant or animal that could produce the
next wonder drug.

Operational since 1993, Aquarius has given scientists prolonged access to the
seabed, a unique opportunity to observer the oceanic ecosystem consistently
and over time. Located within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, these studies are particularly appropriate and have direct management impacts.

The Aquarius gives scientist and divers extended presence in a real underwater
environment that is not available through traditional scuba diving or shore-
based testing facilities. For testing and evaluation of underwater equipment,
this provides unprecedented ability to install, trouble shoot, and monitor the
performance of undersea equipment. This capability is applies to development
and testing of cutting edge technologies that are needed in ocean observing,
forecasting and modeling; and reef monitoring and restoration; as well as
extreme environment and telepresence testing for remote exploration and
medical procedures.

The similarities between living in space and undersea provide a unique means
for NASA to prepare for extreme environments. Aquarius provides NASA with an analog training environment that simulates both the International Space Station (ISS) and moon/Mars exploration missions with realism not available in other analog environments. Recently, NASA utilized Aquarius to begin addressing threats to planet Earth from potential impacts of Near Earth Asteroids. Catastrophic asteroid impacts have happened before — and they will happen again. NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO) used the Aquarius undersea laboratory to test innovative solutions to engineering challenges that will be faced by a potential manned mission to an asteroid. Additionally,

• The undersea habitat provides an optimum environment for the crew to practice extravehicular activity preparation and maneuvers.

• The isolation and constrained aquanaut quarters, the harsh environment and reduced gravity presents challenges similar to those that will be encountered during a deep space mission.

NASA has also used Aquarius to better understand the rigors of space life on the
human body:

• Studies of how the pressurized environment affects sleep and the body’s immune system, the growth of bacteria in the habitat, the use of wireless medical monitoring equipment and nutrition-related studies.

• Testing of an In-suit Doppler to look for nitrogen bubbles in the blood stream, which could provide an early warning of possible decompression sickness.

• Use of innovative telerobotic technology to test remote surgery procedures on a mock patient; with simulated lunar and martian delays.

Additionally, a partnership between Aquarius and the US Navy provides in-water saturation diving training; a capability that the Navy no longer supported.

But what cannot be underestimated is the impact that Aquarius has capturing
public attention and inspiring the next generation of leaders. Aquarius provides
unique resources to reach out to the public in a way that is unmatched by
other platforms or technologies. Live telepresence capabilities excite and engage
students and the public in learning about the ocean, science, exploration, and undersea technology. Aquarius has the power to captivate, inspire and fuel the
passion of tomorrow’s leaders so desperately needed to face the challenges confronting this coral reefs and the oceans in general.

Zip Cup: Ultra-Convenient Collapsible Travel Mug featured on Indiegogo

Zip Cup: Ultra-Convenient Collapsible Travel Mug featured on Indiegogo aims to solve the pollution problem of wasted paper cups by providing a convenient collapsible travel mug.

Here’s how the owners describe their product:

About Zip Cup

Conventional travel mugs are bulky and inconvenient to carry around all day. You might remember having a collapsible cup when you were a kid, but Zip Cup is different. Instead of relying on friction, Zip Cup has been engineered to safely extend via sophisticated twist-and-lock mechanism with tight sealing. It holds a full size cup of hot coffee without burning your fingers, leaking or dripping (when extended or collapsed). The lid has a drinking spout that can be closed off to prevent coffee sloshing out while you walk.

About This Campaign

The purpose of this Indiegogo campaign is to solicit pre-orders, which will fund the factory production of Zip Cups. You can sign up for one of the “perks” listed on the right hand side of this page. By doing so, you’re not only placing a pre-order for Zip Cup, you are also helping make the product a reality.

I really appreciate your support: I’ve invested heavily in engineering, design and prototyping. The initial manuracturing costs of Zip Cup are high because unlike standard coffee cups, comprised of a single part, Zip Cup is made of 3 separate parts, each with locking mechanisms, along with a lid.

Please sign up for one of our perks today: see right hand side of this page.

Why I made Zip Cup

I created Zip Cup because I’m a sustainability pro with a serious coffee addiction. I felt hypocritical throwing paper cups away every day but I found travel mugs too bulky to lug around, and existing collapsible cups were flimsy & unsafe for hot coffee. A few years ago I saw this image, which represents just 15 minutes worth of paper cup waste in the US. It disgusted me…and then it inspired me to make a more convenient travel mug.

What does Zip Cup solve?

Have you ever tried unsuccessfully to squeeze a travel mug into a small bag or your pocket? Felt bad about tossing a paper cup after using it for just 10 minutes? Had a paper cup unceremoniously slosh hot coffee into your face or trousers?

If so, please welcome Zip Cup into your life. When collapsed, a 16 oz. Zip Cup is approximately the size of a pair of socks, and a 12 oz. collapsed Zip Cup is about the size of a hockey puck. The first round of Zip Cups will be produced at 16 oz. (coffee shop size medium) and we will soon add more sizes.

Zip Cup features:

Ultra-convenient: collapses to fit in your pocket or bag
Versatile: holds 16 oz. (coffee shop size medium) hot or cold beverages on the go
Safe: Reinforced locking system means no leakage in your bag–uses the same technology used on spaceships and submarines
Stylish: eye-catching design available in a range of cool colors and customizable designs (coming soon)
Eco-friendly: BPA-free and recyclable
Dishwasher-safe
Pays for itself: save 10-25 cents on every cup of coffee you buy

Final thoughts

If you support Zip Cup on Indiegogo, at almost every level you actually get at least one Zip Cup, many at below-retail prices. You can think of it as a discounted pre-order, a way to stock up on inventive gifts for the coffee or tea drinkers in your life.

Based on market research we are confident that we will reach our goal on Indiegogo. And if we fall short, we have alternate financing options to pursue so that we can fulfill our campaign perks.

Zip Cup will have an immediate environmental impact: if you help us hit our goal and get Zip Cup in the hands of just 5,000 daily coffee drinkers, we can prevent over 1.8 million paper cups from getting trashed next year, saving 20,000 gallons of water.

Please sign up for a perk on the right hand side of this page today. And just as important: PLEASE tell anyone you know who might be interested in owning their own Zip Cup.

Share Zip Cup with your friends:

You can learn more at zipcup.com, and stay in touch via email updates, Facebook and Twitter. You can also drop us a note at karla[AT]zipcup[DOT]com.

Thanks in advance–we couldn’t do it without you. ”

Who Gives A Crap – toilet paper that builds toilets featured on indiegogo

Who Gives A Crap – toilet paper that builds toilets featured on indiegogo has to be the best video we’ve seen on line. A little base you think? Well not at all. These guys have more class sitting on the toilet than most of us do fully clothed!

They’re engineers willing to get onto their product to make the world donate to their cause. Not only are they making a better product for everyone here to use they’re donating 50% of their profits to make everyone in third world countries get the use of a toilet too. And, that’s saying something given that the majority of people in third world countries never get to use a toilet and the toilets that are in use often leak into the drinking water.

We’re completely impressed by the class these guys have and the humor they’ve shown in producing the film. They’ve already hit their target, so the speaker can now get off the toilet but let’s keep giving these guys more and see where we can really get them.

They asked for $50,000 why not $5 million?

Here’s how they describe themselves:

“UPDATE: THANK YOU EVERYONE!

After just over 50 hours on the loo, we hit the first $50k milestone! Simon is now resting his buttocks, but you can still pre-order product – every order helps us get to market faster and in more places.

If we hit $100k, we’ll be able to start a business range, and expect Australian supermarkets will want Who Gives A Crap on shelves by the end of the year. Ultimately, we’ll be able to build more toilets in the developing world.

================

“I’m not leaving this toilet until we raise $50,000″ — Simon Griffiths

At 6am AEST 10 July / 1pm PST 9 July our Co-founder, Simon Griffiths, will be sitting down for what he believes in: toilet paper that uses 50% of its profits to build toilets. And for better or worse you can watch him on the toilet LIVE at whogivesacrap.org (don’t worry – no bad camera angles!).

So get behind our new brand of toilet paper, help Simon off the loo, and pre-order some ‘First Edition’ product – shipped anywhere in the USA or Australia.

Why should you Give A Crap?

Who Gives A Crap is an undoubtedly cheeky product, but it’s addressing a very serious problem. 2.4 billion people (almost 40% of the world) do not have access to basic sanitation. This results in waterborne illnesses that kill 4000 children under the age of five every single day. Put simply, the developing world needs toilets.

Who Gives A Crap?

We do. Who Gives A Crap is a new brand of toilet paper that uses 50% of its profits to build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world. We give 50% of our profits to WaterAid to help the world’s poorest people access clean water, sanitation and hygiene education.

We’re using a product that everyone needs to help those in need.

Where’s the IndieGoGo money going?

We’ll use the IndieGoGo funds to fund our first bulk production run, and create Who Gives A Crap’s ‘First Edition’.

After winning a bunch of business plan awards and international fellowships, we’ve spent two years perfecting the product, developing logistics and building a viable business model. After extensive testing we’re ‘ready to roll’. The final step is to start the first bulk production run.

What happens after IndieGoGo?

Firstly, we push go on our ‘First Edition’ production run. We’ve struck a deal with a recycled toilet paper producer with 30+ years’ of experience, which allows us to produce a beautifully soft and strong product at a retail price comparable to our competitors… whilst doing all the good stuff.

With the IndieGoGo orders fulfilled, our supporters will be invited to participate in our product development program through a series of feedback surveys and questionnaires. As a supporter, your input will help to shape the development of the product after this campaign finishes.

With feedback incorporated into the final product, we will begin selling Who Gives A Crap online (at the same price point as competitors’ products in supermarkets, including home delivery). We will also present product to supermarkets and other stockists. Supermarkets have already expressed interest in Who Gives A Crap, but they need product samples and a proven customer base to take the next steps – that’s one of the reasons we’re pre-selling product on IndieGoGo.

Project Agerbomb Update featured on indiegogo

Andrea Ager’s Cross Fit Gym still looking for some help with 16 days left. Let’s get this girl fully funded.

Here’s how she describes her vision:

“Hi I’m Andrea! HI-YA!! Thank you soo much for coming by to check out Project AgerBomb!! I don’t know how else to say it but my life is Crossfit! I have been sparked in every corner of my soul by the passion, intensity, and comradery that is this wonderful sport of ours. Crossfit changes lives, makes people stronger, healthier, happier and more connected to each other.

A year and a half ago I moved away from my family, my friends, and everything I’d ever known to set out west and build my life as part of the global crossfit community. I’ve been an athlete, games competitor, personal trainer and coach every day since then.

I’m ready to expand my contribution to the community that has given me so much. I have seen firsthand the difference that Crossfit can make in people’s lives and I want to be a bigger part of that difference. I want to open my own Crossfit gym to teach, to play, to train, and to empower those around me with health, vitality, and the self-confidence to know they can do it.

I need your help. I know equipment doesn’t come cheap, and space in LA even less affordable. I want this to be more than a gym though. I want this to be my home, a place I can always go to find my friends. I want my gym to be a total fitness experience where people don’t just come to WOD. They come to be a part of a community that is centered around healthy living. That means fun with friends inside and outside the gym. That means nutrition and education way beyond the basic mechanics of movement. That means social events, beach wods, hiking, running and hanging out. That means training together, competing together, succeeding together. That means using this gym as a platform to develop coaches, athletes, and absolutely anyone who wants to better themselves through fitness. And I’m sure that means 100 other things that I haven’t even discovered yet but that will come about as the natural product of me dedicating my time to sharing Crossfit with the world. I can’t do this without your help. Your contribution will mean the world to me. It is the magic that can make this happen.”

With Gratitude,
All of us from BGC.”

“Dear friends and supporters,

We just completed our second Summer of Code workshop in Oakland on Saturday. To say the day was an overwhelming success would be an understatement. The day was AMAZING! We had over 60 girls and their parents arrive bright and early on a Saturday morning to learn about webmaking and programming.

We had students as young as 6 years old learning, and having fun while doing so. Surprisingly the 9-11 year olds had a particular fondness for Pinteress! lol

The girls and their parents left the day excited about the opportunity and looking forward to the next workshops and opportunities.

This would not be possible without your generous support. For that we are grateful and honored. Thanks for your encouragement and support. Onward to the next adventure!

With gratitude,

Kimberly Bryant
